I used to have a brand name pasta machine (smaller) and it couldn't make lasagne or ravioli - it kept jamming whether it was dry or wet. So I gave this one away and got this one. For the first time he made the perfect ravioli from durum wheat, water and an egg - a real challenge (because durum wheat is hard). Use a metal plate to withstand the pressure. I found it easy to use. I miss that the P brand doesn't have a recipe book, but I love that they put the standard recipe mix on the lid so it's always to hand. I want to try kneading pizza dough as I usually have to lug around an old bread maker for this. But it looks promising. I like the compact size and the beautiful red color. It's easy to assemble, disassemble and easy enough to clean, which of course is important; the same as the other - not very easy to clean, but not difficult. Update: I've made more pasta (2 cups of fettuccine) and one really nice thing is how forgiving it is. The previous one got stuck when there was too much or too little water; This one goes through and still works - I think because it extrudes down instead of forward. This is a huge benefit as you don't throw away the dough when you're short.
