Great idea, could have been implemented better

Great idea that could have been done better. I live in Puerto Rico and have been without power for four months due to Hurricane Maria. Buying batteries to power my devices became very expensive. I ordered eight "D" batteries to run my large electric fan. I thought that was enough. Unfortunately, the device only supports two batteries of any size at a time. This is normal when charging "AAA" or "AA" batteries. But with two "D" batteries at the same time, and the device charges them in about three days of sunlight, it's completely impractical. It will take almost two weeks to charge all eight "D" batteries for use in the fan. Another disadvantage is that the cover of this device cannot be aimed at the sun. You can open it, but you can't tilt it for better sun exposure. This is a simple flip up cover/solar panel that doesn't stay in place. It closes when you try to tilt it. Therefore you need to tilt it and support it with something. It has a small and fragile stand at the bottom that is used to support the device. It only allows one corner. Even worse, use the kickstand and the battery indicator is upside down. The stand must be turned over so that the meter readings are easy to read. In fact, the stand is flimsy and almost useless. Nice try, but I'd rather have the cover/solar panel adjustable in some way. This is a very good concept gone wrong.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting possibilities.
