It may not be entirely clear but unlike all the other Amcrest cameras I've bought, this one can only be accessed through the Smart Home app to be controlled. There is no manual configuration, there is no manual configuration, and your configuration is very limited (no manual configuration of IP address or ports or other sensible things you might expect). Your only choice for video storage is SD card or Amcrest cloud storage unless you have an NVR that supports RTSP. The traditional device configuration is more than enough reason to avoid this camera. You're spending money on a security camera that may not be available in the future. The only positive thing is that the camera is well made. Hard plastic, with wall/ceiling mount that snaps securely into place and stays in place. At least I have to assume at first that the locking screws are made of stainless steel. It comes with a nice long cable, but when you leave the camera an unsightly dongle for power and RJ45 networks just hangs there. The picture quality is ok, but the video can quickly be compressed too much. A static car sitting in a garage is probably fine. No matter how you add a few branches, maybe a light breeze, the subtle texture of the house and the small details just look very messy. Downloading videos from the app is the most mind-blowing experience. You can scroll through the timeline to watch videos, but you have to go to a completely different screen to download them. It just shows all the video clips... 10 at a time. So if I want to load a video from 1pm, I have to start scrolling from midnight. You will see 10 clips, then you need to download more, scroll down, download more, scroll down and download more until you find the clip you want. I hope you remember the time because the thumbnail is just a generic icon. When you download the video it says "Start downloading, please show in the list" which doesn't make any sense. The download doesn't ask where you want to save it, so now you'll have to go through your folders to find out. (FYI, it's stored in the Zencam folder - Zencam is a spinoff from Amcrest, apparently they just reuse the same code/cloud systems). The rest of the app is just as clumsy. It seems like it was developed by 10 different people who have different ideas about how the UI should work. Different sections behave differently when something is saved, edited, or moved.
