I really wanted these. I really liked the original Durham Loop-d-Loop book and thought it had many original designs that were unique yet functional. Yes, you can all wear loop-d-loop laces, but at first glance the patterns seem kind of ahem. common, especially for Teva Durham. The one on the cover is perhaps the most wearable, but upon closer inspection it's just a typical cardigan with lace panels, ruffles and 3/4 sleeves. In the rest of the book there are things like a lace blouse with what looks like a side zipper (but it was actually some kind of fancy clasp) - something ugly and impractical, or lace inserts in sweaters, under which you had to wear a shirt. Of course, all of these patterns can be modified to your liking, but they're all sort of a beginner's hodgepodge, not designs that put a lot of thought into. It feels like it's just put together. The lace tunic with a bow is perhaps the best, followed by the flared sleeve blouse, although there are many complaints of sleeve flaws. I really don't think there's anything impressive here to buy this book - nothing that could be found as easily in the index dictionaries of Walker's books and then added to a traditional garment or otherwise found like a free pattern would break the mess . I've seen better lace capes, more spectacular lace scarves, Better designed and nicer sweaters with lace panels and more thoughtful designs in general. As for projects like an ottoman or a bag of sunflowers - um. Anyone with a little knitting skill can do these projects without a diagram, except maybe with a dictionary. Fur.
