It's dangerous! π I say that with a smiley face because they do exactly what they were created to do. I almost fell on the cord before snagging on the next door jamb! I wanted to find a way to do extreme leg stretches and core exercises, and they not only worked, they worked well. Before first use and until you get used to it, I highly recommend having a handrail, chair, or even a door frame handy. They are very comfortable and I will say they make a slight "pop" sound when you step on them. . The first time that happened, putting my foot on one of them, I thought I broke it. It doesn't, it just makes noise because the bottom (hard) pad is concave to give it a better glide and when you step on it, it pops loudly. No worse than a barbell clink or a kettlebell clink. Yes, I know the bell should ring π Unless you're doing meditative yoga poses with them, I doubt the clapping will distract you. They are designed for use on carpets. They make a great addition to our oriental rugs around the house, any tightly woven rug or cushion rug will do. They may work on other surfaces but I would be concerned about scratches. A blanket on a hard floor will likely work just as well as a rug. Again comfortable and functional, good value for money. If you try some compound exercises or leg extensions without them, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how effective they are in your movements.
