I replaced my old m.2 drive with a new, larger one (128GB to 1TB) but wanted to keep the old drive as a backup. In this case, I inserted a new drive to clone the old drive. The biggest problem I had was just removing the plastic piece from the front of the case. You have to unscrew the front and then push through using the USB as a power source. I felt very uncomfortable doing this, so I had to pry off the front with a knife. It would have been better if the front had some sort of latch or lever to make disassembling the case easier. Also, I put the new drive in the case, cloned it, and then replaced the new drive with the old one. So now I have a 1TB drive on my computer and a 128GB drive in the enclosure as a bootable backup. All in all it worked for me.
