I did not want to put a nail through the siding so I used the 3M tape included. Because the light is flat on the back and the siding is curved and hollow it was hard to get a solid contact with the two between the tape. A couple days later three of the lights fell off. I had two of them mounted with the tape longest from top to bottom. This made it difficult to secure all the tape to a curved like area to a flat. This may have shortened the tape to 50% holding power and the tape is not the full size of the light. The light I mounted with the longest of the tape being left to right is still intact. That way both the siding and the back of the light had more area of a flat surface with the tape so when I pushed them together the tape connected to both more securly. Another light near the door fell off because it was more exposed to the rain and snow. That was the only one that fell off with the tape still mounted to the light. I did not pay attention to the placement of the tape on that one as my bias mind already determined why it fell off as stated. That area I placed it had no overhang. I could be wrong. Notice the overhang of the roof in the video over the three lights. I think the overhang actually protects rain and/or snow from landing behind the light where the sticker is. I was so worried that the overhang would block the sun. I had bought extra 3m tape and taped them again to the tape that was secure on the siding and the one over the door I nailed under the overhang. I also thought with these dark winter skies, the lights would start working as soon as the sun began showing itself. To my surprise, it lighted up immediately! The same night that I hung them up! So glad I bought these. Who needs Alexa when you have motion detectors? Who needs a contractor to install electric if you have these? Not me and if you chose to buy, not you either.
