I bought this to replace a navigation radio that was starting to behave strangely (sound dropped out for a second and when it came back it sounded, like someone changing the EQ setting, as well as playing CDs with some noise) in a 2009 Avalanche with a Bose system. Compared to what was out there this radio sounds amazing and offers Bluetooth and better navigation options than a standard device for a lot less than most other options. sounded awful as others have complained but found that unless the sound was to be used for key reminders, flashing and whatever it would just come out of the front speakers like it would on a standard radio. I may have a better Bose amp since the truck has a center speaker in the dash, although the option codes in the glove box don't show it. I had some problems with the installation. I couldn't get the original rear view camera to work at first, but after finding the wiring diagrams for the truck and seeing that there are multiple ways to connect the factory radios depending on the trim, I reattached the wiring harness that came with the radio so that it matched the rear view camera output. . I think something is still off, when I remove the key the radio stays on as it should until the door is opened but the audio including the key chime cuts out after 5-10 seconds. I'm assuming the amp is shutting down, but I don't think it's worth trying to fix for me. Also, I sometimes have an alternator whistle that I only hear at low volume. In terms of use, it starts right up, looks like it could be original hardware, and does more than I need from a replacement. The controls on the steering wheel work like the original. But I'm frustrated that it's difficult for me to download music directly from my phone to my device. You can emulate a phone on the device but you'll need to connect it and change some settings, or you can use Bluetooth, which is great for calls but limits you to just play/pause and skip forward or backward without to search the device itself. . I didn't find a way to transfer files directly from the phone to the device, so I bought an SD card for it, thinking I could download music to it and put it in the device, but in order to do that, the device has to format it. becomes a form of internal storage and is not recognized as a removable disk by the phone or computer. I haven't tried the USB stick yet. I used Google for navigation and it works fine even without a data connection. If you download maps beforehand and set them to WiFi only, you simply won't get any update traffic. Overall I think it could have been better but it's worth it.
