At first I had my doubts, I wanted a Sony mirrorless camera. When Revain offered a price and payment method, my decision was made for me. I'm just an amateur but adventurous when it comes to playing with different cameras. I started shooting in auto mode, which seemed overexposed to me, but I edited it in post. I've since switched to the program, zooming in and out as needed, and using manual focus. wow results! I'm a Canon fan, really a fan, but this Nikon blows my mind. Shoots like a full-size DSLR but handles like a point-and-shoot, giving it an extra edge in locations that cameras with "detachable" lenses won't allow. The size alone made it possible to shoot concerts. That being said, there are a few J1 quirks to be aware of. Lots of lightweight plastic parts, especially the memory card and battery slots, which worries me. There's no viewfinder I'd rather shoot through. If you're shooting with flash (that's not a priority for me), the flash isn't a better target and shoot. If these things are important to you, take a look at V1. They are addressed in this model. I don't use the video function, unfortunately I can't comment on it for you. I gave it five stars after finding out what this little kid is capable of. I'm really impressed and love it.
