Review on SE 6-Inch Cotton Swabs (100 Count) - CS100-6: Gentle and Versatile Cleaning Tools for Every Task by Kayla Walker

Fragile wood, hard cotton

The wood is surprisingly brittle. I use them to clean my gun and I certainly didn't expect the wood to be durable, but it fell apart in my hands. Several tampons broke into 3-5 pieces. It was actually kind of weird, and I even stopped for a second when it happened and giggled to myself. I'm not a nut, I wasn't heavily armed with tampons, that was weird. like qtips. So they don't absorb very well. In comparison, the cotton swab is soft and somewhat fluffy and picks up particles well. They are rolled so tight that they do not pick up dirt or absorb liquid well. Since they are so fragile and poorly absorbent, they are not suitable for cleaning my weapons. They broke when I applied some pressure and pushed cleaning liquid through instead of sucking it up. In fact, they were so terribly absorbent that I used them to put oil on my gun after cleaning it. In addition, they were too round and too big to fit into the grooves of the rails. So they were basically useless for the purpose I bought them for; gun cleaning. In general, wood is too brittle and cotton too hard. They may serve a few purposes, but it's hard to imagine that there aren't better long tampons out there.
