The Easy Part: Alternators and Generators

works great. If you have a Yamaha, especially a G16 like me, this will NOT solve any high voltage problems. Sometimes they charge up to 15 volts. This will not reduce the tension to 12-14 and below. Don't make the same mistake I did. If you want to use 12V DC accessories, this will not solve your problem. Better buy a stabilizer.
