The lamp arrived in good condition. I understand why some people check the packaging and why lamps sometimes arrive damaged: the box is LITERALLY big enough to fit the lamp with no buffers like foam inserts. I had to pull quite hard to get the device out of the box. However, mine was in great shape with no dents or cracks on the (rather thin) cone. The old 4 foot fluorescent light it replaced had a junction box in the ceiling AND a ceiling screw on both ends: This light has holes that line up perfectly with those screw holes. The lamp itself is pleasantly light (i.e. "not heavy”), so there were no problems installing it. This can be helpful if you have a pair of hands to hold the thing while you attach the wires: they come out of the top of the bracket so you have to hold them high enough to screw onto the wires. emerges from the ceiling and is then crammed into the junction box. There is no room in the fixture itself for wiring...it goes into the ceiling so a junction box is needed. Everything got up with no problem, and boom! New world. We got a brightness of 2700k, which is a very "warm" white: in the photo, the light seems a bit brighter than it really is. However, that's a LOT of light for a small entrance, and that's exactly what we wanted.
