Review on 🚰 AO Smith AO WH PRE RPP2 2 Sediment Filter Replacement by John Castle

Lowe's normally sells AO Smith branded whole home water filters. This particular filter (AO-WH-PRE-RPP2) is a 10" x 2.5" 40 micron pleated polypropylene filter (washable and reusable) no longer sold at Lowe's. However, Lowe's offers a very similar 20 micron washable reusable filter (AO-WH-PRE-RP2). In September 2019, Lowe's sold the 40 micron version in a 2-pack for about $8.95. They currently offer a 20 micron version (sold online) for $9.96. These filters can be reused several times if washed thoroughly. WET Wash: Run a stream of warm or cold water over each crease to remove large particles. Please filter in a vertical position in a shallow sink and fill the interior of the filter, which will "flush" the filter elements and wash out the finer particles. DRY method: let the filter stand upright and air dry for about 10 days. After that, lightly tap the edge of the sink with the dried filter, and most of the coarse sediment will come off. The WET method is then used to further clean the filter. I sanitize my filter by soaking it in a weak solution of regular liquid chlorox and water for 10 minutes, then rinsing it several times with clean water. White vinegar diluted with water (also known as cleaning vinegar) can be used as an alternative to Clorox water.
