I have a 1990 Ford E-350 XL and needed to replace a cover that I had lost the keys to. Yes, there is a way to break the cap and remove the old one. This one works the same as the old one. The key is only used to remove the cover and then pulled out to replace and lock it. The green color-coding for diesel is a nice touch. for stations with accompanying persons.
