Review on ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Enhanced Lowrance 112-362 iWay 500C Portable GPS Navigator with Built-in MP3 Player by Steven Darkshnar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally switched to GPS

I bought a Lowrance iWay500C based on the Revain review and it met all my needs and wants as well. My family and I travel a lot and it seemed like a good way to get to where we are going through unfamiliar territory. I tested it out in Virginia Beach, Virginia last week. Other websites where I made my decision:[.]Pros: 1. Nice big display! I can easily look at the display while driving. The display is very bright, making it easy to read during the day, and the backlight can be easily dimmed for nighttime use. 2. The speaker is nice and clear. 3. RAM windshield mount works well; The device wobbles when not supported, but I put it on the dash and it seemed to work very well. Easy to attach and detach from the bracket. 4. Easy to navigate between menus. 5. Detailed maps; I got lost a couple of times on purpose and after trying to get myself to turn back I recalculated the route. Disadvantages: 1. Too heavy; However, this is not a problem when placed on the dashboard. 2. Overheated and held convection mode - very annoying. I left the device in the car while I ran some errands, and when I came back (it was a warm day, but not too hot) the device kept switching between display modes, which was annoying to say the least. The unit stopped doing this after about 5 minutes in the air conditioner and I unplugged/plugged the unit back in. 3. I have found that the distance at most intersections is around 50-100 feet. Pretty accurate for me. 4. I found a few streets that weren't on the maps. I don't know how often they update roads. My family and I are going to Pennsylvania this weekend - it will be a test to see if I keep it or bring it back. I hope this review helps others.
