I bought these medium/large socks as per the size chart recommended. I wear size 9 shoes, but size 9.5 work shoes to counteract the swelling. I work as an operating room nurse and spend more than 8 hours a day standing. Maybe more. I wanted tiered stockings that are warm but don't feel like nylon. I had socks that I liked but they no longer hold their shape and now ride up on the foot causing toe cramps. I decided to try these. They are warmer but not like a sauna. And they actually offer graduated compression. They are thicker and knit tighter at the foot and ankle. In the middle of the foot there is a compression material for the arch of the foot. The knit and compression relaxes as you move the leg up. Maybe it's my fat legs, but the knit seems pretty thin. It doesn't look like the stitches will burst or cut off circulation. And bonus: My feet don't smell like polyester socks.
