Complete scrap. Overview of Gates water pumps. It's Gates using his name to rebrand a cheap Chinese water pump. I installed it on my Chevy Tracker in November 2012. After about a year and a half (3000 miles) I started hearing a squeak when turning. At first I thought it was the power steering pump. It got worse and happened every time I went around a tight corner. I suspected a water pump, replaced it with a Japanese one - the squeaking went away immediately. Avoid those water pumps; Pay a little more and get a Japanese water pump like NPW and save yourself 3 hours of work.
