Review on ๐Ÿ”ฎ Enhance Your Space with the Rakaposhi Natural Himalayan Salt Chip Bowl Lamp: Authentic Stone Mineralamp of Premium Quality Wood Base with Dimmer Switch by Andrew West

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Warning: Do not use near open windows in high humidity.

We bought 2 plates of Rakaposhi Himalayan salt chips and are very pleased with their appearance. However, let me warn you. We usually turn off the lamp in our common room at night. One morning, after leaving the windows open on an unexpectedly wet night, when we turned it on we heard the hiss of electricity and immediately yanked the power cord out of the wall. Then, under a lamp, we noticed a slight accumulation of oily water. Since salt absorbs moisture, moisture would collect in the salt bowl and run into the lamp socket at the base of the lamp. (I should also note that salt tends to dissolve when exposed to moisture, which may be why some reviewers have complained about smaller-than-normal salt rocks.) When I took out the lightbulb, it was evident that moisture had gotten underneath. Lightbulb and socket shorted. I replaced the now non-working dimmer and placed an O-ring around the lamp's base to fill the gap between the lamp's glass and the socket. Hopefully this will prevent moisture from entering the socket in the future. The lamp is working again, but we will not open the windows next to the lamps when the humidity outside is over 70%.
