Review on Built-in Chaonatech Arcade Console Handheld by Fred Griffin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Wanted to be liked. But wanted to keep.

I was hoping this game console would be worth the $160 I paid for it. The price was a bit high but I had a gift card which softened the blow to my wallet. I took a risk When I opened the box it turned out it might have been a return with part of the box missing although the screen still had a protective film on it. I'm about to return as the screen failed after the second power on. If it wasn't for that I probably would have kept it, despite some issues I otherwise had. Here's my babble on the pros and cons, which are mostly personal opinions. The screen was very nice when first turned on and produced a clean image, but there was a filter applied to the graphics that I couldn't change or turn off. It smoothes out pixelated graphics, which defeats the purpose of this high-resolution display. The settings and options on this console are very minimal and everything is played in full screen without the ability to make any changes. The controls seemed to work well and the joystick wasn't terrible or too wobbly. The game selection was ok with a big dose of MAME. I've tried a bit of each console and found the PSP and N64 performance to be a bit patchy. Despite all that, I was still willing to live with it, but the screen failed the second time I turned it on. A matte white ring approximately 4 inches in diameter formed in the center of the display. I argued for about an hour before opting for a refund instead of a replacement. I hope that others who have purchased will get what suits them. I was hoping it would be cool given the higher price.
