4.5 stars. A very solid chair.

The chair is perfect for what I was looking for, a "heavy drafting chair". I use it on a single work height sewing table, and the fact that it's so compact (while also fitting my whole butt on the seat) and rotates means I can sit for one task and move for the next , and return to her immediately. That. Plus, the travel length from fully extended to fully retracted means I can fit ALMOST perfectly on a standard-height desk. But I don't need it, so I don't care. However, this means that it is suitable for a range of table heights. The footrest uses an internal collar that pushes against the shank to hold it in place but does NOT lock. Almost every weight on the bar will slide down. It doesn't bother me because I like it on the lowest level, but I'm sure it will bother some. It's also not a place designed for long periods of uninterrupted sitting. The back is short, so there is no support; The little back you see is exactly as pictured. Good quality material - I'm sure it's leather. Reliable construction. The only point of criticism: The L-bars made of stainless steel on the sides have pointed corners that you can really feel when your foot dangles a little to the side. And I lean a lot by half. Generally I would buy a whole set of these if I need them. And it's light enough to easily roll on regular carpet when I'm not on it, so getting it out of the way is a breeze.
