If you want something that looks like real wood and is technically real wood but can't afford more, this isn't a bad option. rather, pieces of board are connected to one another. It feels solid enough, though, especially for the advertised 25-pound-per-shelf rating. The two pre-drilled holes were too big resulting in the screws not holding as well as I would have liked. I fixed the situation by reinforcing these sections with super glue. In addition, the finish is anything but elastic. Like a coat and not very good quality. And it's not espresso. More like a very dark cherry. This is my second Winsome Wood purchase and most likely my last. The first had similar problems. I recommend a quality MDF shelving over this brand unless you really want something that looks like solid wood planks and are on a budget. Be careful with the finish and have super glue handy.
