I needed something to shape and reinforce my materials. A hardware sized rubber mallet is overkill and my arthritis makes it difficult to lift and swing. This makes the work at a more comfortable size for me. I washed it with soap and water and aired it out for 2 days before using it. I got rid of the smell and it never left a black mark on my work.
