Review on 🔒 Enhanced Security with Kwikset 99090-019 Deadbolt in Venetian Bronze Finish by Tony Jockheck

We got our Kwikset 909 about 2 years ago and have used it on our main lock so far with relatively few problems. Pros: - It was easy to install and set up. Directions were good. Once installed, it was easy to use for everyone in our family. This eliminates the need for a key if it functions correctly. - It is a beautiful lock that goes well with our decor. Disadvantages: - Motor runs noisy. When you lock the door with the keypad, it's pretty obvious because there's a lot of noise when you lock it. - After 2 years of use the lock started to have problems. It makes an even louder noise as the motor closes the lock and seems like it is "struggling" to latch. Despite our regular maintenance (lubrication, battery replacement, etc.), it takes longer for the locking mechanism to work. Customer Service/Warranty: When our lock had problems we contacted customer service. The wait was quite long (about 1 hour) but the member of staff we finally spoke to was friendly and helpful. They diagnosed our problem as "gear misalignment" and gave us instructions on how to reset the alignment. We did this and it seems to have helped the issue a bit. The lock still doesn't close like it does when working properly, but it works and seems to have improved. When we asked about the warranty we were told that for electronic locks it's 1 year and our device doesn't meet the requirements (shame). We will keep using the lock as long as we can, but now we have our key in case the mechanism fails and we have to open our door manually. For the price we paid a 2 year usage seems ok but not great.
