Review on OVALWARE Electric Pour Over Gooseneck Kettle: Ultimate Variable Temperature Control for Quick Boil & Precise Brewing - Stainless Steel, Fast Hot Water Boiler, Coffee/Tea Maker by Jason Stokes

Revainrating 3 out of 5

decent kettle good for coffee tea espresso

This review is for the stainless steel/silver model. First the cons: - The matte gray color shown in the photos is incorrect. I have a glossier version shown in another photo. The spout end shape shown in the matte gray version is incorrect. I have a rounder one as shown in another photo. Significantly less strong (slow boiling) than Oxo. Not a deal breaker for my use. You should also specify the power in watts. - The lid is difficult to open. Basically, I have to hold the case with one hand and lift the lid with the other hand to open it. If anyone found an easier way please let me know. - Although the lid is too tight, the lid somehow rattles when boiling water. More or less rattling depending on the position of the lid - fit and workmanship - grade 2. The bulges on the front of the base, for example, show a somewhat poor workmanship. After reaching the set temperature, the current temperature reading gives a somewhat false impression of temperature stability in my opinion, when in fact it drops more than 4 degrees Fahrenheit to the heating element. come back in. I believe this trick is not unique to this teapot, I have seen other famous brands do it as well. But I wish they would just give us accurate current temperature readings without playing this artificial temperature stability game. - The kettle turns off once during operation with an error display on the LCD and a beep 3 times. I don't know what it was. The manual does not say how to read the error code. (EDIT: I've got an error again. Apparently this error is related to the "boil dry" defense mechanism. Well, I had over 12 ounces of water to make two Americanos. How could there be a "boil dry" with that much water ?It looks like an overzealous sensor, in fact I always have to heat way more water than I need to use this kettle --> a waste of water, energy and time.) - No brand name. The product support seems questionable. Pros: - Completes the job once except for the error above. - Separate temperature displays for target and actual temperature are good. - Convenient dial and buttons for access control. I brought back the quirky Fellow form-over teapot because it placed two commonly used switches on the back - they were difficult to use. - A nice ergonomic touch with a separate soft pad under the handle where your index finger supports the weight of the kettle. the weight. Unfortunately no comments on the stuffing as I don't use it for stuffing. Overall a decent kettle for the price with some caveats. If you frequently need to heat a small amount of water, look elsewhere for overzealous boil-dry sensor trip failures.
