I have an HP 14" Chromebook with 2 "B&O" speakers on each side of the keyboard. My expectations for this feature were high. God, I was disappointed. I'll tell you, even with at max power they sounded no better than any other laptop although the worst of all my experiences was with 5 different laptops the last of which was the 2010 15.6" Acer Aspire which was much louder although not stereo like that. So I looked at all the "clip-ons" available on Amazon and settled on a higher rated USB-only speaker and that was it. Even with a solid 4 star rating I was expecting much better sound but nothing like this. It sounded great without an equalizer, but of course the bass wasn't enough. So I added equiv. App for Chromebook and many improvement options such as "Bass Boost" setting etc. I decided to use "Small Speakers". I set the speaker volume to maximum as there are a number of ways to adjust the volume using the keyboard, mouse or source and played some of my favorite songs. All I can say is that this little speaker is superb in every way. The sound isn't big, there's not a lot of bass, but overall the sound quality is way better than I would have hoped for such a small device, even if it were 3-4 inches wider. As for the two wires. , don't be fooled by wire 1, the choice is via USB only. The headphone jack cable is there for a reason, it creates true stereo sound (2.0) and volume options that only USB doesn't offer. With USB alone, you can't use volume other than your devices. With the headphone cable, the volume selection is limited to what's still available, as I mentioned earlier. For attachment, I routed cable 2 along the back panel (I positioned it on the top cover). speakers) and carefully sealed them with good quality clear tape and added a few small strips of 3M double sided tape under the front of the clip to form a nice solid mount on my very thin cover, just b/c that's where I want it to be that it stays, and I pick it up from the table next to me / bring it back many times a day. SB-C adapter needed for power supply as my USB 1 port is occupied by my wireless mouse and I only have a 1 USB 1, 2 type 'C' port. The speaker is USB-1, FYI, so if you want a smaller one you'll need an adapter, usually type "1/C" if not all (as of this date). It sticks out a bit, but that's what I have and my choice of configurations. Simply put, it has a full-size USB port. Mine is on the opposite side of the headphone jack, so keep that in mind when setting it up. So it's just a matter of how long it lasts. Any issues will be updated here. Otherwise HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Looks great and the materials are high quality. That should make most people very happy.
