I see reports about this everywhere but I have had two DeLonghi oil heaters for over 20 years and they still work. I thought I'd risk getting two more. I have a heat pump that can get expensive to run when temperatures drop below freezing, so I turn off the thermostat and close the vents in every room except my living room and home office, which have a thermostat. About an hour before bed I turn on one at a full 1500 watts to heat my bedroom, then turn off the 800 watt switch when I go to bed and let it run at 700 watts overnight. Even when the temperature drops to puberty or below, my bedroom doesn't get cold. I did notice the smell some have spoken of when I first used it at 1500 watts for a few hours but haven't since.
