The time has come. I've had this device for about 3 weeks and I have to say; This item exceeds expectations. The main reason I bought it is because I jot down music on my phone and play bass in a band. If you've ever tried recording bass on your phone, you know. Since then I've also been experimenting with a condenser mic (I happened to be using a Behringer C-1). It has a much better sound than your phone's microphone. To be honest, I expected to end up putting this aside and writing off my phone entirely (an experiment caused by my computer's temporary death), but I use it and recommend it to my friends. serious musician friends are interested in recordings and arrangements. Everyone has a phone. Musicians have microphones, headphones and cables. Because of this, it is magical. Cons: Headphone output leaves a lot to be desired. I wish there was a control to mix the direct input with your phone's return for zero-latency monitoring. It seems obvious, but I'll say it anyway: make sure your 9 volts are as fresh as possible. The preamp is decent when the battery is fully charged. After about 24-30 hours of use it becomes complete garbage. I've noticed that it's important to use the right type of cable. I've noticed that when I use a balanced cable with my passive bass, it's more prone to interference. The case is cheap and kinda crappy. For real; nothing left to say. I recommend this (and the Band Lab app) to anyone who is a musician and wants to experiment with recording but isn't ready for bouldering - computer home recording. I had a home setup and this does the job for me. If I had to update my music equipment collection today with my current knowledge and $200, I would buy these, a pair of KST headphones, cables, a microphone stand and a microphone. As a dad on a budget, if you gave me $1,000 I would pay the mortgage in a month and then buy the same setup. but not ready for bouldering - computer home recording.
