Very good device!

I also have an iRig and now it's Saramonic and I can say it's more convenient. The volume control is labeled and it is easier to return to the selected setting. I think the amp is probably less powerful than the iRig (meaning it took more gain with the regulator to get the same signal level) but the noise floor is exceptionally low. For my setup, which is a computer voice recording with my own microphone, I had to set the gain to the highest level and both the unit at 75% and the input volume…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Paid $35 for this unit; at the time of writing it was twenty-five. I think even for 35 it was a lot, especially compared to the cost of professional music XLR audio interfaces. These days I prefer to flip the little switch on the front…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Since then I've also been experimenting with a condenser mic (I happened to be using a Behringer C-1). It has a much better sound than your phone's microphone. To be honest, I expected to end up putting this aside and writing off my…
