Review on Kichler 12212BZ Cabinet Strip/Bar Light with Two Lights by Albert Gaines

Revainrating 5 out of 5

All stainless steel and glass

I bought them in several sizes and put them together. Kichler 12212SS work very well under cabinet lights as they are made entirely of stainless steel and glass - they don't have cheap looking plastic trims. I spent too much time researching lighting options and found that nothing beats the quality of xenon bulbs. LEDs still cannot match the good color rendering and uniform lighting of xenon. What you don't see in the product photos or the manual is where the electrical knockouts are located. There are quite a few mini knockout holes throughout the case, allowing the electrical cable to enter anywhere from the rear. It comes with a mini cable clip that adjusts to a smaller than usual knockout hole. Standard size armored or NM cable mates with this included clamp. Change the lamps by sliding the glass panel forward. If you have shutters under your cabinets and install fixtures in the front and very close to the front, it can be difficult to open the glass cover. In my case I don't have valency so even with a thin 1" profile it's 1/4" under my cabinet faceplate but it looks really nice being all appliance grade stainless steel. This model is 120v, no transformer needed so one less thing to break. The difference between 120V and 12V incandescent bulbs is that 120V incandescent bulbs are slightly more susceptible to shock and vibration and their color temperature is slightly warmer compared to 12V incandescent bulbs. Sometimes 12v transformers fail after a few years and I don't want to mess around with having to open the case and swap out, so I'm glad I found this lovely Kichler device that uses mains voltage.
