Review on 🖋️ PILOT Parallel Calligraphy Pen Set, 1.5mm Nib with Black and Red Ink Cartridges - Red/Blue by Kristen Simpson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Opens up a whole new creative world.

I originally bought a 1.5-point parallel pen to use for handwriting. When trying it out, I quickly realized that I wanted to use it for drawing. The ink flowed so smoothly that I was able to rotate the pen slightly as I drew the line. Then I decided to try this pen's special ability, the color gradation of the ink, which requires two pens, so I bought another 2.8 parallel pen, which made it even more fun. This has led to the fact that I now have five of these fun pens that cover all pen sizes. Blackletter calligraphy just got a lot easier. Springs drove me crazy so I immediately switched to parallel springs. They are incredibly fun to draw. I also bought a box of Pilot Mixable Ink cartridges in all the colors. These inks are very light and saturated, but they are very wet and will smudge on almost all types of paper. Leaking was at 32 lb. HP Premium Paper negligible. You are not limited to the Pilot ink that comes with the cartridges that come with it. Simply fill the empty cartridge with any fountain pen ink using a syringe. These handles are easy to completely disassemble and clean. A water bladder is included for cleaning the pen, and there is a foil strip between the pegboards for cleaning. I've also used Ecoline watercolor inks with great results and they don't clog my pen at all. I definitely recommend you try these pens.

Pros
  • Pilot Parallel Calligraphy Pen: Pilot's innovative 2-blade parallel pen design lets you create sharp mono lines with a narrow edge and expressive calligraphy with a wide edge.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
