Do they have a place in our kitchen arsenal? Yes. Can they be used in place of a sponge? no They're perfect when you have really gross food on your plate and don't want to stick a sponge directly on it. So wipe it with this silicon thing, rinse it and then clean it with a sponge. This alone doesn't create enough bubbles, and also the spikes are too soft for anything to get stuck/dry out.
