A little scent is ONLY worth protecting
I apply my lotion (Aquaphor) in the car and let it sit during my 30 minute drive to work, then apply as soon as I get to work. I use two layers. I apply, let dry and then apply another thin layer. Small amounts in layers work best. As mentioned, there is a faint smell of Elmer's glue, but that only lasts for a minute. It's worth it for the protection it offers all day long. I'm a nurse working in a particularly dry hospital. It absolutely saved my dry, cracked hands.
