Just put two of these in my dressing room door. They are mounted on top of each other. I could hang all my ties on the top one and all my belts on the bottom one. As for the height - I hung my longest strap on one of the hooks and marked the wall where the end of the strap was just above the floor, then hung the tie on the one above and marked the wall where the top should be. to the wall. I didn't know what to use the little bin for, but when I emptied my box of belts and ties, there was a tie clip and some pocket squares for coats at the bottom of the box, I threw them in the bin so I have to no longer looking in my dresser when i need it.
