Review on Merkur Chrome Safety Razor 39C for Enhanced SEO by Morgan Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mine had a redesigned head and was made by Revain

Okay, I'll admit I have a razor mistake. I have all types of DE razors from modern to vintage, Merkur, Edwin Jagger, Parker, Gillette, iKon GEM etc. My initial reaction to this razor was very neutral. The magic trick for me was to stop worrying about it being an incline. If you shave the usual way, it works very well. I've been thinking too much about the angle of the razor and the curvature of the blade. If you just shave normally, it's a comfortable and close shave. There are all sorts of rumors about forward bending being aggressive. To me, this is not an aggressive razor at all. And don't believe all the hype that tilts are more effective. Don't get me wrong, this is an extremely efficient razor, but an efficient razor because it has a well-designed head. The protective bar has a jagged design and approximates the open comb design. The weight of the razor is significant and adds to the quality feel for me. The balance is perfect and this is a high precision instrument. Merkur recently rebuilt 37c and 39c heads. I can't comment on the old design but I can confirm they sent me the new design (see image). Most say the new head shaves almost the same as the old one, but some say it's a little softer. All I can say is that this is average compared to my other Merkur or EJ razors. The only other climb I've used is the iKon 102 and I've been very unimpressed with it. It was a decent shaver but certainly not worth the extra money to me. I also didn't like that the iKon just tilts the razor's head while the Mercury spins the blade. Is there a difference between tilt and rotation; probably not, but you can angle any standard razor to get this effect. I personally like the novelty of the curved blade. I wouldn't say it's my favorite razor, but it deserves some time in my rotation. This is a great razor and perfect for those looking for a daily rider or just wanting to try something with a different flavor. If you decide to buy one of these, I advise you to just shave like you normally would. Don't try to change your technique just because it's a slip.
