I used both male and female. The tips are just great. Simply strip the wire (there is a gauge printed on the surface of the tip) and leave the stranded wire - when working with this, no tinning (per instructions), insert all three straight (no twisting or coiling) and tighten each philips. They use a wide and slightly cupped compression plate that offers excellent contact. I disassembled my original setup to see how good the contact points were and they compressed well throughout. The case is attached with two high-speed screws that hold in place. and the strain relief also sits firmly on the appropriately dimensioned cable. The tips are marked with the correct color code and the screws of the tips are also colored in the correct colors. Green, black and light brass instead of white. Both plug and socket are illuminated, and post-assembly circuit testing demonstrates reliable and correct connections. I really like her.
