Unlike the photo, the slabs were solid and did not show all the color variations or wood veining as shown in the product photo. The look of wood drew me to these plates and I was terribly disappointed to see them so simple. I knew the measurements but after receiving them I realized that 5.5 inches is actually very small considering the actual usable surface area of the platter considering the raised rim of the platter. The writing on the face was much smaller and lighter - almost a pale peach as opposed to a dark nutmeg brown - and didn't impress as I thought. Overall they served their purpose as cute dinner plates, but for the price next time I think I'll go for compostable square plates that cost half to double the price. I paired this plate order with disposable wooden cutlery, and as simple as they were, they drew more attention than the plates.
