They look real, they are easy to clean, I am not afraid that they will deteriorate if and when I take them outside. It's been two months and the batteries are still dead. They are very easy to use. The lower part is unscrewable, runs on two AA batteries and has a switch. Candles shine for several hours each day at the time you originally turned them on. To change the time, just turn it off and back on at the new time. My only wish is that the time durations can be adjusted - they are currently set to time overlap because I would like them to stay longer (although summer times will probably be better). I assume that they will continue to work for many years to come. They're pretty dark. I used them as night lights in the kitchen and bathroom to protect the house from pitch black darkness.
