Review on UNI-T UT301A+ Infrared Thermometer: Non-Contact Laser Temperature Gun, LCD Display, -25.6°F to 788°F (-32°C to 420°C), Red & Grey by Kory Shelton

First things first. This thermometer has an adjustable emissivity range. Many similarly priced thermometers are fixed/non-adjustable. This is extremely useful as infrared thermometers don't set this instrument up and forget it. Different materials have different EVs (emission values), so it's important to do a little research and understand what you're referring to to get the right value. The included manual insert has a useful table of the materials and their EVs, but you can find more detailed EV tables elsewhere on the web. I was looking for an inexpensive non-contact thermometer for my grill to ensure the grates are preheating to my intended range for consistent cooking results. I had no idea how many other uses I would find for this thing. I've also used it to check the temperature of the distilled water I heat for my neti pot, detect drafts in windows and doors, troubleshoot electrical components, etc. I have the readings and EV with several different surface probes checked. and trusted thermometers (like the Thermapen MK4) long before I decided I could trust the readings I'm getting and I suggest everyone do the same just to make sure it was properly calibrated before it left the factory leaves. The processing quality is solid and the thermometer lies well in the hand. The display is easy to read and all buttons and settings are responsive. This is the type of product that requires a bit of research and understanding from the end user to get correct results. So I expect this list will get some bad reviews over time due to end-user mistakes. Please consider this before giving too many reviews for this type of product. With a basic understanding of how the product works and using it within its capabilities, the results are as accurate as expected (within the tolerance specified by the manufacturer). I have no complaints. It's a solid product that feels comfortable in the hand, and its utility is even better than I initially expected.
