I needed a vise for my workbench and having previously broken cheap cast iron vises in half from over tightening I wanted something strong. After a lot of research, it turned out that this was the best option for a strong vise without spending hundreds on a large, US-made ductile iron vise. Forged steel and durable design meet all requirements. The box says it's made in Taiwan (there's a higher level of craftsmanship in general). I measured the 6" hole before the end of the lead screw enters the lead nut, so it should reliably open slightly wider than advertised. I tested this after bolting it on and lubricating the lead screw, using it to crush the 7/8" OD. 4130 chromoly tubing (.049" wall). I thought it would be a good crash course to verify, see if she has any defects and he made it easy. It holds the material very well. The fit and finish is great. fit very well, the bolt is tight and the screw turns smoothly with a finger. Double rotary locks work well. The jaws are sharp and hardened (and interchangeable) I went to Yost's website to apply for a warranty and was pleasantly surprised to find that they have a lifetime warranty.
