I purchased a StarTrac recumbent from a local retailer through Craigslist. A bike is a serious piece of equipment and was originally installed in a commercial gym. I paid less for it than I would have spent on a "hobby" NordicTrack or Schwinn at a major department store. I used it very rarely for a few months and kept it in my garage (no air con) but when I moved to a larger location I was able to store the bike in a guest room. I started using the bike a lot more and that's where the problems started. StarTrac bikes use a small autogenerator as a pedal load. It powers the electronics and by changing the load the generator sees the user can change the resistance on the pedals. One day my pedals started slipping and making horrible noises so I took the bike apart. I thought the straps were slipping, they weren't. I called StarTrac and they told me that a replacement pulley would cost $130, but that would also require a new transfer case since new pulley bores have changed on new bikes. Total cost: over $900. I understand that a new bike costs $3,000, but it's definitely out of my budget. I took the pulley apart and the bearing was stamped "Torr 101416". A google search led me to Revain and this topic. Nd ordered, stock received in a few days. I pressed out the old bearing and pressed in the new bearing, which still slipped a little. The old bearing did not snap onto the shaft, but the new bearing did. I sanded the inside of the pulley and the outside of the bearing and applied epoxy for about 5 minutes. No more slipping. Since then I have ridden more than 50 km without any problems. This clutch saved me a lot of money!
