This is the third hour meter I have installed on my Yamaha alternator. It has to be original equipment, but I digress. The first one I bought was cheap but lasted much longer than the official Yamaha gauge which cost a lot more. Yamaha counter failed after 200 hours, display blank, then constant 0.3. It made a nice noise when I threw it in the trash can. This one seems well put together, you can set the start clock - great as a spare, unlike the Yamaha - the battery is replaceable and there are all sorts of programmable features. I just installed it, so I can't confirm its reliability. But it's a lot nicer and cheaper than the Yamaha meter, and you can't beat the quality!
