I already had one of these devices and wore them all the time. After about three years, the skin finally failed and had to be replaced. It took much longer than expected given the exposure to salt water, -50 degree temperatures and the work of a merchant. With the amount of wear and tear I've put on it, it's held up well. The only problem I have is that they don't ship to Alaska so I had to send it to a friend and then ship it to me. Not sure why. This may be due to the ferrite core (spark generator). Just warn against using the device. The stem is short so you don't scratch the stem like you would a longer item to get a spark. Movements are reversed. Instead of dragging white stone over flint. You hold the white stone still and drive the flint over the stone. It's more efficient and there are several high quality videos (YouTube) demonstrating this.
