We chose this profile design because it has a heavier base that protects the pre-drilled hole much better than others. A little more metal at the base also helps with installation. We are not professional installers; We are just homeowners doing it ourselves. We watch a video to learn how to build a railing. Guards are required even if you run the cable in a straight line.
