Review on Garmin 010 12530 03 Parking Cable Black by Mike Goodwin

It works . . . BUT - Chargers and Cables

I've been using this Dash Cam for about a week as of this writing. While this camera has some interesting bells and whistles, there are some improvements that Garmin really needs to explore and improve upon to give consumers better fine-tuning on the spot. Issue #1 - Lane Departure Warning: The current algorithm used by Garmin needs to be updated. On a dual carriageway, it kept pointing to a lane exit when there was no exit. The warnings have actually turned into a distracting driving situation. Garmin Technical Support did not offer any help in resolving this issue. So my guess is that there are no end user settings. Issue #2 - Collision Warning: There are no significant end-user settings here. As you might expect, people have different driving habits. What may seem "too close for comfort" to one person may seem quite comfortable to another, albeit not a safe distance. If another car decides to change lanes and is in front of you, it will warn you of a collision even if it happened at a safe distance. The safety distance is therefore subjective. I see process potential here. Issue #3 - Parking Lot Video - Holy Cow! This is madness. According to Garmin, this mode records when you're not in your car. The camera is equipped with a shock sensor that is set to start recording in the event of an impact (after a timeout). When parking in an active parking lot, the camera records continuously with varying durations until the timeout limit is reached. In my case it is set to two hours. In two hours I had 53 parked videos. None of them relate to a possible collision with a parked vehicle. When I contacted Garmin to make them aware of this and how to adjust sensitivity, I didn't get the response I was expecting. They said that "there is no way to adjust the sensitivity. Try to shorten the wait time or park elsewhere." A bit like a cavalry response. This defeats the purpose of the automatic surveillance function, which is invoked after an exposure has taken place. So if this happens after your timeout has expired, you have may not be fortunate enough to provide evidence. If you extend the wait, allow some time to search through possibly hundreds of videos to find your impressive video. While the camera works and has a pretty good resolution, there is my opinion after much room for improvement. It's a good system if you can ignore the above problems.
