The soft close mechanism works great but now the drawers are difficult to open

The soft close mechanism does its job when you close the drawer but when I open the drawer it works the soft-close mechanism is not easy and requires extra effort to open the box. Not a smooth process and very annoying. The drawers will begin to open smoothly and then some "lock" will appear prompting you to pull harder. Our previous house had soft close drawers and didn't have this problem. I am disappointed with the performance of this product.
