Great product and very handy to have a chess board on the go. My son and I play a lot of chess and at first we buy it to take with us to play in the car with my 8 year old son when he is not at home. He decided to bring a board to school to play with his friends, which is perfect for his backpack. The pieces are small and only time will tell how well the magnet will hold. There is a small pocket inside to store the pieces, but if you leave them on the board they seem to stay in place. I don't think a plastic lid would withstand the kind of abuse that comes naturally to an 8 year old. Summarize the pros and cons: Pros: Well made and high visibility parts, easy to spot, easy to carry and stay on the board. Cons: Easy to move backward parts as they are magnetic and tiny. If you have large fingers, you may find it difficult to slide or lift and move them off the board.
