Review on 🌬️ Enhance Your Fridge's Freshness with Camco 44124 Fridge Airator: On/Off Switch Included by Robert Dickinson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It does its job, a definite improvement over Valterra (although there's no on/off switch)

After trying the Valterra fridge fan, which was junk (reviewed for that), I tried this one as a last resort. I use this in my mini fridge to try to keep a lower and more stable temperature so I can turn the knob down and not get freezer burn on the food in the separate freezer. This fan does just that, creating a decent flow of air that really affects the temperature of the fridge (it doesn't seem like a huge difference, but it does make a difference). It's very easy to use, so it gets the job done in that sense, but it has some downsides.1. There is no ON/OFF switch, it's easy to remove the back cover, just place the unit on the table and place one hand on each side of the top, press your thumb right in the middle and pull it carefully to the side . Batteries are very easy to insert and install (unlike Valterra). A switch would be an improvement here.2. It would be nice to install a filter pack, but the filter pack is pretty useless and just sits on top of the fan. Having had to change the batteries as soon as I dropped them, they sell replacements but don't buy them! They really don't do much, and if you put an open box of baking soda or a much larger bag of charcoal sold for this purpose in the fridge, they'll last longer too. It has a battery life of about a month, and I'd really like to be able to make a fridge fan using simpler batteries, but oh well. A NOTICE. In order to prolong the life of this fan, I strongly recommend taking some thick rubber bands with you. and wrap them around the bottom of the fan (where the batteries are). This takes some of the pressure off the small plastic tabs holding the back of the fan. It is worth doing this to prevent wear and tear over time. Build quality is okay, the plastic feels less cheap than Valterra's, but it's certainly not indestructible. UPDATE******** Camco now makes the same on/off switch fan, will buy it and recommend others to try it instead.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are more interesting options out there.
