Not much to say about this pancake spread; it's basically a metal rod. But it's a well made metal rod, I see no reason why it could fail or break. Sized about right, but not for pancake pans or skillets (unless you have rims). This is for proper crepe makers (like the Krampouz) with no rim to get in your way and more surface area than your average retail crepe pan. However, it feels a lot lighter than you'd expect from solid stainless steel, so it's either not rustproof or hollow. I don't know how to know which explanation is correct other than taking it apart, which I won't do. What I do know is that a magnet won't stick to it, but not all stainless steel is magnetic. What light weight means is that it's less likely to sink into your partially cooked pancake batter and tear it (although it will if you don't spread the batter quickly enough). Some of the batter will stick to the spatula after each use, but this is easily remedied by placing a small bowl of water next to the pancake station to rinse the spatula after each use. Just give it a little shake before using to get rid of most of the water and you're done. The water also helps the spreader slide and doesn't stick to the dough as quickly.
