My four-year-old can easily buckle themselves into the seat now. It took a few weeks of both her and I learning how to use it because it’s a lot different than your regular booster seat. Now we are use to it and I’m confident she can buckle herself. I use a thin foam pad under it to expand the comfort but it is safe as we were run off the road recently and hitting the breaks hard on a highway was scary but she had zero marks. *NOTE my 4 year old is tall for her age she is 46 inches tall and weighs 42lbs
