I get the same temperature readings from this unit and Thermoworks so this is a good, much cheaper option. It's magnetic so it can be stored on the side of the fridge or simply folded up and stored in a drawer next to the stove. Sometimes my Thermoworks is picky about when the temperature reader turns on - at the right angle. There were no such problems with this sensor. So I think I say I would end up choosing it over my Thermoworks. I love the silicone coating on my Thermoworks. It hasn't, but you're only briefly measuring the temperature, so silicone is probably overkill and not needed. Just hold this problem with an oven mitt and you won't have any problems.
